I used a chemical plant instead of a steam engine to make the input/output lines clearer, and oil instead of water since water cannot be filled into barrels yet. Here is an example steam recycling power plant I set up. Being able to recycle the water would make the power plant more efficient, and reduce the logistic strain to the player, while adding complexity to the power plant layout. With the current game mechanics(+water transport), a 1.5 MW plant requires an entire cargo wagon of water barrels per day. I think is should be reasonable for players to create steam plants that are supplied water via barrels/train. Currently this works, but the power density is very low, and is generally inadequate for lasers/assembly machines. If an outpost is too far from a water source to pipe in water, the only option for power is solar panels and accumulators. This cold water could then be pumped back to the boilers, reheated and reused.

I propose that with the correct research, steam engines would upgrade to output a percentage of the used water into an output line. When heated water runs through a steam engine, 100% of the water used is released to the atmosphere. This would allow players to maintain steam power plants in locations were piped water supply is impractical. Recovered water could then be reheated to run the steam engine again. Instead of destroying all the water used, steam engines could output some % of the input steam as cold water. This book covers blueprints for every kind of power generating, taking you from steam power, through solar, all the way up to creating your own nuclear power plants.2) I am a newbie to the game, with only 50 hours in-game, and even less in the forum.ģ) This suggestion assumes we will be able to transport water in either barrels or tank wagons.

This Blueprint book from ranzolger provides full blueprints for all the circuits you’ll need to manufacture across the game.Īnother blueprint book, this one is dedicated to the wonderful world of power generation. One of the very best Factorio blueprints, Tileable Sciences gives you a beautifully compact and efficient layout for every science pack in the game. All of these, along with many more, are available at :Īrguably the ultimate blueprint book, Nialus’ Base-in-a-Book contains all the blueprints used in his accompanying Youtube series, designed to take you from a stranded interstellar explorer to master of the manufacturing realm. Here’s a selection of the most useful blueprints for Factorio. While you should certainly have a go at creating your own blueprints, sometimes the best way forward is to learn from others. (Image credit: Wube Software) The best Factorio blueprints To import a blueprint, find the string online, copy it, Then click the 'Import string' button to the right of your hotbar, paste it in, then click 'Import'. To export a blueprint, right-click the blueprint and click the 'Export to string' button. Outside of Factorio, blueprints are saved as character strings. You can share your blueprints with other players and use their blueprints to improve your own factory. One of the most important features of Factorio’s blueprints is that they're not restricted to your game. Certain assembly setups, like electronic circuits, which you need a lot of, or inserters, which you need many of and form a key part of other assembly lines, such as science packs and other types of inserters.Power generators (such as steam engine setups and solar farms).Your drilling and smelting setups for iron, steel, and copper etc.Good areas for early blueprinting include: With any assembly lines or structure layouts that you’re going to either add to or use multiple incidents of, it’s a good idea to blueprint early so you can keep your construction consistent. Early on, though, you’ll have to do the grunt work yourself. Later in the game you can direct drones to automatically build structures designated by blueprints. Note: The blueprint provides an outline of what to build and where, it doesn’t do the actual construction for you. To deploy a Factorio blueprint, simply click on it in your inventory, then left-click to place it as you would any other object.
